David Hayward : A Change in the Weather
Most artists capture a moment then tell a story by depicting that moment in their art. I have selected three artists who express these moments in totally different ways.
David Hayward’s textured paintings are a response to actual locations. He is concerned with how the edges of the landscape interact with land and water. Shorelines, estuaries and tides are often starting points for him. His preferred medium of encaustic (oil paint dissolved in heated beeswax) allows him to mimic and convey weather conditions and erosion in his work, resulting in works that are tactile and abstract.
David Hayward : Sea Wall Pink Field
Alexia Weill's collection of sculptures entitled ‘Circular Impressions’ focuses on the rhythmic flow of energy created by the circular shape. She carves from the world’s natural materials such as marble, limestone, diabase and serpentine. The purpose is to transform the block into a continuous life enhancing form. With the theme of each object being the same, however each piece has its own language with individual markings, texture, stone and different energy emanated.
Alexia Weill : Circular Impressions series
Angela Edwards paintings deal with people moving through spaces. The main themes in her work are about travel and migration, with the ultimate eventual destination being home. Angela is capturing the transition from the public space to the private. The moment of time where people are travelling to their place of belonging where they can feel safety in ones own space.
