Alexia Weill
-
Paris-born Alexia Weill lives and works in Switzerland by the Swiss Riviera. As the granddaughter of a gallerist, she grew up in an artistic environment, nurtured by enthusiastic art lovers, and surrounded by paintings and sculptures.
Alexia studied at the School of Audiovisual Production of Paris and, at the same time, attended workshops at the National School of Beaux-Arts. In 2009, she received the Honorary Diploma of the Academy of Fine Arts of the Southeast of France.
Initially, Alexia worked in clay and created sculptures from live models. However, after moving to Switzerland 10 years ago, she began to use stone to express a new creative dimension, in an expressive transformation that she calls “dialogue with the stone”.
By working the stone, marble, diabase, limestone or serpentine, Alexia Weill seeks harmony in round shapes. With her “circular impressions”, she works in circles like a mandala, inscribing and sculpting her emotions and visions to emanate a circulating energy. -
Alexia Weill is an active and acclaimed artist, participating in exhibitions around the world.
In July 2019, she was selected to participate in the International Biennial of Montreux with her monumental sculpture, “The Wave”, which was made an exclusive installation at Leman Lake.
This September 2020, Alexia has been invited to design the trophy for the Elle Spirit Open.
