Sarah Villeneau - Hooded Form

For this exciting exhibition I have invited three new artists to the gallery in May for the Brighton and Hove Arts Festival.  There is a collection of Landscape paintings by Alice Sheppard Fidler, organic formed ceramic sculptures by Sarah Villeneau and wonderfully playful and wistful figures by Elizabeth Price.  This exhibition explores the essence of producing art while celebrating the handmade.

Elizabeth Price - With Intent

In this age of rapid technological and social change, I feel it is vital to celebrate creativity and the handmade. What I like to call ‘handology’; not as in palmistry, but as in intelligent art and craft produced through our hands. In order for our hands to fully engage with creating there needs to be an understanding of ideas.  The development of those ideas into an art form I think is magical.

My role is not only to find and present great art but also to encourage the production of great works; by supporting and encouraging my artists in their practice and sharing my understanding of art markets.  So I take great delight when my suggestions have been taken up.
